Zama, Nadir: The Tape Recorder Trilogy – S2E12

(216 – 202 BCE · Carthage)

The Narrator describes the rest of the Second Punic War, including the battle of Zama, the fall of Carthage, and the aftermath.

Based on Chapter 12 of Middle by Geoff Micks.

The bust of the Carthaginian general Hannibal Barca was discovered in the Italian city of Capua in 1667. The Roman era bust was made between the 1st century BC and 4 century AD. It is preserved in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples.

A sixteenth-century imagination of the Battle of Zama.

I promise not to do this too often, but when I wrote Marco, I was picturing Eli Wallach. This portrait, I hope, will do a nice job of illustrating what I had in mind.

An Iberian falcata. Note the curved blade and the horsehead pommel.

Representation of the Punic city in the Carthage National Museum.
