This site was first launched as faceintheblue.wordpress.com on October 24th, 2009. I published almost 200 items in fits and starts over the years. As of 2025 I am repurposing this old site to do some heavy lifting on my podcast, book, and social media content, but that doesn’t mean I want the old stuff to be totally inaccessible.
For anyone who does want to give things a wander, here were the categories back when an earlier WordPress Template encouraged me to have lots of menu items for easy navigation.
About This Blog (Mostly of-the-moment updates that will no longer be interesting)
Awesome Pictures (This was an idea for a series I had that, like so many things with this blog, did not really amount to much)
Best of the Web (I found stuff online I liked and wanted to talk about)
Book Reviews (I wish I had done more of these)
Canada (It’s where I’m from, and I like writing about it)
Comics (I only did this twice, but it was fun)
Fast Fiction (This is something I still might do in the new direction for this website too…)
Genealogy (I’m the person in my generation of the family who is keeping track of stuff like this)
History (My favourite thing to talk about!)
Inca (Hey, I did write a book about it….)
Music Related (Self-explanatory)
My Writing (Quite the catch-all)
Notable Quotes (Another fun idea for a series of content I should have done more with over the years)
Poetry (Self-explanatory)
Stories (I’m pretty sure the difference between this and My Writing is one I mostly said out loud to people, and the other I considered ‘writing’ writing)
Tape Recorder Trilogy (Some notes I made about my trilogy)
Think About It (When I wanted to pitch an idea for people to think about while taking very little actual reader feedback, this is where I put that stuff)
Zulu (Like Inca and the Tape Recorder Trilogy, it was a collection point for stuff about my Zulu book)
I suspect I will not be categorizing future content, or I will figure out some new index system that makes sense for this new WordPress template. Still, nice to have a place to find the old stuff the old way for anyone interested, which will probably be limited to me…
