The Narrator recaps the first half of the Second Punic War to set the scene for when Mago and Marco brought news of Hannibal’s great victory at Cannae back to Carthage.

The bust of the Carthaginian general Hannibal Barca was discovered in the Italian city of Capua in 1667. The Roman era bust was made between the 1st century BC and 4 century AD. It is preserved in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples.

I promise not to do this too often, but when I wrote Marco, I was picturing Eli Wallach. This portrait, I hope, will do a nice job of illustrating what I had in mind.
